What some of our visitors think about Stick Cottage
September 29-October 4
Very peaceful few days and made most welcome. Hootons Farm good place to eat and buy. Plas Newydd, Anglesey Sea Zoo, Oriel Mon Gallery, Llangefni, Tacla Taid, Anglesey Transport Museum, Newborough – all well worth a visit. Local folk most welcoming. Enjoyed our stay.
Kate and John, Badger, Shropshire
Thank you for another lovely week. The perfect base. Warm wishes.
John and Jan, Taunton, Somerset
We have had a very comfortable and peaceful stay at Stick Cottage. Lots of history to uncover and enjoy. Thanks for your friendly hospitality – thanks.
Linda and Jack, Concord, New Hampshire, USA
Lovely cottage, very cosy. Nice to come back this morning after a long walk. Anglesey is such a beautiful island – will definitely be coming back!
Clive and Melanie, Keighley, Bradford
Thank you for a place of peace and for the lovely welcome (especially the flowers). We really enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of Newborough forest, dunes and beach. Thoroughly recommend Hootons Farm Shop for food – especially Sunday (but book, go early and if possible, pre-order your choice of roast as they run out!). The Ship Inn at Red Wharf Bay was brilliant and we recommend Beaumaris. Thank you for everything.
Don and Carol, South Cerney, Gloucestershire
I loved staying at the cottage. I had a great time at the beach and loved the horses very much.
Love from Ameerah, aged 6, Luton
A very comfortable, relaxing stay at Stick Cottage. Thank you Paul and Catherine. Just the right balance of being welcoming and helpful whilst being unobtrusive, enabling us to feel like it was “our space”.
We enjoyed visiting the coves and beaches on the west coast , as far as South Stack. Newborough beach and Llanddwyn island a highlight. Great walking on the north coast at Cemaes Bay and Amlwch harbour. The Puffin Island boat trip from Beaumaris was fun – entertaining skipper! Beaumaris and Menai Bridge are both interesting, small scale towns to visit, especially the architecture. Plas Newydd was ideal to visit on a less settled day. Then each day we could return to warm cosy Stick Cottage to cook and relax. Thank you again.
John and Jan, Taunton, Somerset
A very happy week in near perfect weather. We particularly enjoyed the walk across Newborough Warren, where the wild flowers are beautiful; and the coast path east of Rhosneigr to the ancient barrow on the headland. Anglesey is very relaxing and we always enjoy it. The art gallery at Llangefni (Oriel Mon) is worth a visit and good cafe for lunch.
Claire and Philip, Shropshire
We have enjoyed our stay at Stick Cottage. The weather was good most days. We came to Anglesey to see puffins and were not disappointed.
Stan and Eileen, Staffordshire
Comfortable stay in your lovely cottage – a very welcome sanctuary after a “challenging” journey from London. Anglesey is a very special place and have enjoyed our brief glimpse – we’ll definitely be back!
Chloe, London and Alvero, Spain
Perfect weather for walking and being lazy on the beach – swimming every day in warm water. Cottage ideally situated for reaching most of ANglesey with a pretty garden to enjoy in the evening sun.
Ate out at Ann’s Pantry, Moelfre, Tavern on the Bay, Red Wharf Bay, Pier House Bistro at Beaumaris and The Straits, Menai Bridge. All brilliant and highly recommended. We didn’t manage to go back to Marram Grass this year despite being so close but did return to the Oyster Catcher at Rhosneigr – what a shame, so disappointed with the food – mine returned and taken off the bill.
Lots of bird watching, favourite places – South Stack and Cemlyn Bay.
Many wonderful beaches but favourites are Newborough and Porth Trecastell (Cable Bay) between Aberffraw and Rhosneigr.
We have had many wonderful visits to Anglesey and plan to return for many more visits. It’s a very special place.

Another great week at Stick Cottage. A bit of canoeing, bike riding and a lot of eating. Grandson visited for the first weekend – delightful having him to stay, just loved the 5am starts. He was fascinated by the tail of the white tiger soft toy.
The cottage has been a perfect place for us to unwind and relax. First visit to the island but not the last! Stunning beaches and lovely . Very enjoyable and we look forward to returning in the future

May 26-June 2
Stick Cottage has been a perfect base for our Wales coastal path walking and we have now completed the Anglesey section, all 125 miles! We also walked from Bangor to Caernarfon, another 13 miles. The cottage is ideal for a couple and very comfortable, with all you need for a good week’s holiday.
Martin and Ann, Burton on Trent
Thank you for a lovely welcome return visit. We have had an enjoyable, relaxing holiday once again.

This was our first visit to Stick Cottage – Paul and Catherine were very welcoming. Lovely cottage and perfect location for our break in Anglesey. We have both really enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

April 21-May 1 2017
Paul and Catherine – Thank you both again for a lovely base and garden for the Anglesey Sea Kayak Symposium. We paddled with 5 Dutchmen, sharing adventures to Menai Strait, Puffin Island in a gale, Skerries from Porth Dafarch, North and South Stack tide races, inland sea. Cycled routes 5 and 8 around Anglesey – phew! Survived a spectacular capsize, earning a new Peak drysuit. We will visit again. All the best.
Thanks for the shuttle!
Deb and Nick, Norfolk
April 8-21 2017
Thank you once again for a lovely stay in Stick. We managed to do lots despite Sara’s ankle! Even managed to get Nat out a couple of times. Looking forward to seeing you soon.

February 17-24 2017
Here again for another lovely break at Stick Cottage. Spent a full day on Newborough beach, Malltraeth Sands and Llanddwyn Island. Walked for miles in this spectacular area that never disappoints us. Another day we walked for miles along the coast of Rhosneigr. Red Wharf Bay and Benllech were also great locations. We got on the coastal path at Lligwy beach, took a left to Dulas Bay and Traeth yr Ora. Absolutely stunning and deserted, only us there… we did a couple of evening walks at Newborough beach and Malltraeth Sands. The sunsets were stunning…There’s still more things to do on Anglesey, so we will be back to stay. Thanks for everything, Catherine and Paul.

December 23-27 2016
This was our first time to Anglesey and Stick Cottage has been a lovely authentic place for us to spend a peaceful Christmas. The cottage is a very well organised holiday home, that has absolutely everything we needed. Thank you for a wonderful first impression of your island, we hope to return!
Kosmas family, Warwickshire
Once again a lovely stay in Stick, with a warm friendly welcome. Didn’t quite make it out in the kayaks. Managed to get to the Oystercatcher (lovely food, great location), on to Newborough beach (windswept and beautiful) and the car boot sale at the Môn showground.
David, Sara and Nat, Huddersfield
We had a lovely walk along the beach at Newborough and were impressed with Beaumaris. The cottage is very cosy and comfortable. Thanks for a lovely stay. Hope to return in February!

October 11-14 2016
We enjoyed our stay at Stick Cottage. We would return and recommend to others.
Jonathan and Valerie, Singapore
Stick Cottage has been a great base to explore Anglesey. Highlights included walking to Llanddwyn Island from Newborough Warren, visiting Beaumaris and seeing choughs sitting on the roof of the RSPB cafe at South Stack. Thanks again.
Rachel and Dave, Shropshire
After the excitement of a family wedding, a relaxing week in Anglesey is just what we needed. Stick Cottage is a great base to spend days exploring the island and relaxing on a lovely beach – we have yet to find them all. Highlight was seeing a red squirrel at the Dingle nature reserve in Llangefni. Also Beaumaris and castle, Copper Mountain, South Stack, Caernarfon and Newborough forest. Oh and great fish and chips. Will be back!
David and Lynne, Derbyshire
September 2-9 2016
Another enjoyable stay at Stick Cottage. Cycling and walking this time rather than kayaking this time. Some lovely wildlife sightings during our days out, with plenty of choughs entertaining us on the coastal path from Rhoscolyn. Thanks, a great break.
Debs and Keith, Manchester
August 26-September 2
We have had a relaxing and comfortable holiday in Stick Cottage. It is very well placed for visiting places like South Stack, Plas Newydd and Beaumaris. We have enjoyed some good walks, especially down to Newborough beach from the cottage. The fish and chips from Newborough were very good. Food at the Marram Grass cafe, very tasty.
Mary and Duncan, Chorley
A great base for exploring a new side of Anglesey for us. Newborough Forest and the beach is a must. Fish and chips as the sun goes down is also a real treat.
Mel, Nic and James, Barnsley
August 12-17 2016
Thank you once again for a lovely stay in Stick, sadly a little shorter than we wanted! Managed the kayaking trips in fabulous weather and bashed the jungle next door. Looking forward to seeing you and staying again.
David and Sara, Huddersfield
August 5-12 2016
A fantastic holiday once again on Anglesey. Stick Cottage is a lovely and ideal base to go and explore the island. Fab times at Penrhyn Castle, Sea Zoo, Foel Farm and a great beach at Aberffraw. Also a hidden gem of a garden at Plas Cadnant. If you like eating out , a lovely meal was had at the Oyster Catcher (you must book) another gem was at Mojo’s in Rhosneigr (must book). Thank you for a friendly welcome from Paul and Catherine.

We have enjoyed our stay in Stick Cottage, despite the rather grey weather, and windy at times, too! Enjoyed eating out at the Marram Grass, the White Eagle at Rhoscolyn, Anglesey Arms and Dylan’s at Menai Bridge, the Penrhos Arms at Llanfairpwll, and as a last resort, the White Lion at Newborough. But be warned, the Marram Grass gets booked up. Sadly, most of the seabirds had left South Stack when we went (30th July) on the only really sunny day of the week. Most places we visited – Penrhyn Castle, Plas Newydd, Caernarfon – were busy but we found Cemlyn Bay in the northwest of the island and the Plas Cadnant much quieter. Thankfully, we had the comfortable cottage in a quiet location to come home to. Thank you very much indeed.
Mike and Sandra
Amazing island – fantastic walks, interesting scenery, wonderful castles. Beaumaris a particular highlight. Comfortable cottage – brilliant holiday
Bridget and Phil
Has it been a week already? The cottage is a lovely home away from home. We enjoyed quality food from Hooton’s Farmshop on A4080, not far away.
Also the one cafe open all day around here with from scratch meals at Caffi Nain, Tacla Taid just outside Newborough. A bit odd but very nice family-run (friendly) business.
Loved Newborough beach and forest – explored the peninsula and at Llanddwyn, when the tide came in, it became an island!
Nature Bites did an excellent birding tour.
Thank you, Catherine and Paul
Joe and Robbie Tietge
Many thanks for a very comfortable stay. Weather has been kinder than was forecast and the location is great. Enjoyed our walk along Newborough beach to the lighthouse at Llanddwyn Island and visits to Plas Newydd and Penrhyn Castle as drives to Aberffraw, Rhosneigr and RAF Valley. We are sorry that the chickens don’t seem to be around at the moment but really appreciated the lovely artistic arrangement of fresh flowers from the garden on the table. Many thanks once again.
Irene and Philip
A wonderful cottage in an amazing location. We’ve had a wonderful few days in Anglesey and hope to come back for longer next time. Seacoast safaris worth trying if you like birds, we had a great trip out to Puffin Island. Marram Grass were great too – recommend for dinner (and it’s just down the road!). Sorry we didn’t meet Catherine and Paul. Many thanks.
Angie and Derek, Hertfordshire
Thank you for the use of Stick Cottage. An excellent base to explore Anglesey. Lucky with the weather – only one day of rain! Definitely recommend the White Eagle at Rhoscolyn for food, stunning views and the best fish and chips we’ve ever had. Anglesey Arms at Menai Bridge is good too. We really enjoyed a walk around Parys Mountain copper mine, amazing colours in the sunshine. We’ve had a really good week on foot and by bike. Thanks!
Kim and Paul, Hereford
May 27-June 3
Our first visit to Anglesey – if we pay another visit, we will certainly see if Stick Cottage is available! And thank you for arranging the unbroken sunshine – a real bonus!
Don and Chris, Buxton
A lovely relaxing holiday here on Anglesey. No kayaking as OAP’s!! But really enjoyed driving around the island and walking along beautiful beaches and coves etc. Very comfortable here at Stick Cottage. Thank you!
Grace and Clive, Preston
Our fifth time to Stick Cottage but the first in Spring. What a difference Anglesey is when compared to the September of our previous four visits. As ever, the cottages comfortable as always, and our thanks to Catherine and Paul.
Ann and Malcolm, Stafford
Perfect for kayakers. Enjoyed it a lot!

April 23 – May 1
Thank you both for a lovely peaceful base for our Spring kayak holiday. It was an idyllic base for exploring Anglesey by sea kayak and bike. The cottage is very warm and comfy. It is surrounded by a peaceful orchard and beautiful garden full of flowers. Catherine and Paul were extremely kind, welcoming and helpful. The cottage provides a light bedroom, neat galley kitchen and comfy sitting room. It is a great base for days out to local sandy beaches, Menai Bridge galleries & restaurants, Plas Newydd house & gardens, as well as boat trips out to the islands. We will definitely return.
Deb and Nick, Norfolk
We had a great stay in a cosy cottage! All good wishes.
Martyn and Vincent, Shrewsbury

February 12-19 2016
Lovely to be back, despite some mixed weather. Thank you to Paul and Catherine for a warm welcome and anouther lovely stay at Stick. Back soon!
David, Sara and Nat
Full moon, high tides, excellent weather. Cycling along quiet lanes in the autumn leaves. Enjoying the geology of Newborough Warren. Lovely place to come back to.
Dan and Mair, Newtown, Powys
Very comfortable and happy here in Stick Cottage. Well placed for visiting all areas. Had a great time investigating really ancient remains and although very windy and cool, weather didn’t stop us. Still much to visit and so many walks not done! Great fish and chips at the Marram Grass.
Julie and Trudy, Cornwall
Peaceful and relaxing here as always. Weather forecast for the week was awful but it turned out nice enough to make our stay even more enjoyable. Thank you.
Malcolm and Ann, Stafford
A great week in a great place. Anglesey was a revelation. Found plenty to do and will be returning. Plas Newydd well worth a look.
Robin and Brenda, Middlesex
August 28-September 4
What a lovely cottage: quiet, compact and a great place to stay after being out on Trac Môn (Anglesey Circuit) marshalling on the bank holiday weekend. Catherine and Paul have been great hosts. Weather has been reasonably kind to us and we have been out every day during the week. We hope to come back and stay again next year, when we are back at the Trac.
Many thanks, Catherine and Paul

A delightful week in this lovely cosy cottage. Enjoyed the peace and quiet and exploring this lovely area of Anglesey. Thank you.
Heather and Mike, Bolton
Also our first visit to Anglesey and we were lucky to have booked such a great place to stay – felt like home from day 1. We were surprised by how close everything was and have had great days out on and off the island. If you like art, there’s a great gallery in Menai Bridge.
Ruth and Aaron, Worcestershire
Our first visit to Anglesey and good weather too. We were inspired to visit the area by the paintings of CF Tunnicliffe, one of our favourite artists. The week has gone far too quickly. We have really enjoyed ourselves and hope to be back. Thank you.
Avril and Peter, Chipping Norton
It was our neighbour, an archaeologist, who encouraged us to visit Anglesey, saying it’s a gorgeous and fascinating place with stunning views. Marion was not wrong.
Anglesey was a surprise to us and how much we enjoyed touring the ancient island. We will be back to visit this Isle of Anglesey. Thanks
Liz and Tony, Telford
July 31-August 3
Really enjoyed our short stay in this lovely, clean cottage. Glad we had a chance to enjoy a barbecue in the garden. Lovely beaches nearby for early evening walks. We will definitely come again and recommend to friends and family. Thanks!
Carol, Nick and Tom, Stockport
A brilliant time, lovely views and a lot of places you can visit close by. A warm cosy cottage with a lovely fire. You never want to leave. Everyone should come here.
Oliver, aged 10 (and Sue and Rodger), Leicester
What a lovely, calm, relaxing and friendly place. We have both had a wonderful time here and very much look forward to returning. Thank you, Catherine and Paul, you have made our trip a memorable one.
Simon and Toshiko, London
Came partly on a tour of inspection of the site next door, where our son plans to build a straw bale house. So we may be back! We also managed to have a holiday. Never visited Anglesey before. Weather was mixed, mainly windy but only one wet day and some good sunshine too. Beaumaris was great and Penrhyn Castle must be visited if you like to see Victorian plutocracy at its most tasteless and over-the-topness. Walked a bit of the coastal path at Aberffraw, beautiful, as were a couple of walks at Newborough – both beach and forest. Sadly didn’t see a red squirrel, though we talked to people that did. For something totally different, we did the zip-wire ride at Bethesda. Concentrated thrills – you are only in the air for about 2 minutes in 2 hours but we were thoroughly entertained. Not for everyone, once was enough for me but Celia wants to come back with our grandson. So, overall, a real holiday in a beautiful area. Thanks to Catherine and Paul too for a warm welcome.
John and Celia, Lyme Regis
June 26-July 3
A wonderfully relaxing week in Stick Cottage. We could imagine staying here in this lovely place in every season, although we have been blessed with sunny days (mostly) and a magical evening in your garden, having a perfect summer drink. If we have any regrets, it’s only that we’re not staying for a longer time. We hope to return.
Anne and Gordon, Bath
Lovely comfortable cottage. Had a lovely few days discovering a beautiful place
Roger and Elaine, Norfolk
Another comfortable week at Stick Cottage (my 4th). Sti
